Thus far my presentations have gone well as I have progressed into the final stage of the semester: designing the architecture. These are my final boards, a narrative explaining the project, plus an animation for the semester to be presented in Lubbock.

Assn6_Architecture & Design

This portion of the project required us to look over our masterplan, make changes as were suggested by critics, and move forward with our design in developing the actual architecture of about 10% of our masterplan. This included considering particular circulation conditions, the design/floorplans of selected area, and possible materiality and form of the buildings.

Assignment 6 was about sketch planning a masterplan to cover our entire site, or a majority of it. Included in these pdf's are images of the sketches and drafts presented in the critique followed by a reflection of that critique.

Assn2_9x9_Specialization Research

Each student in the class is assigned different topics to research including history, land valuation, property holders, automotive transportation, other transportation, current conditions, and more. The topical research topic assigned to me was that of "Campus: Education, Criminal Justice, Parks." I was also asked to research the art community which has a large impact in the area of study. The final outcome discusses land use by the indicated groups and how those occupants use the area, as well as future impacts of those groups.

In groups of three, the class tackled analysis and research broken up into three parts. Two parts were on master plan projects and last was a residential project. Each part was handled by a group of three people for one week before it was handed off to the next group. The residential projects, unlike the master plan projects, were 9 different projects done by each individual. My participation in the projects are as follows:

In groups of three, the class tackled analysis and research broken up into three parts. Two parts were on master plan projects and last was a residential project. Each part was handled by a group of three people for one week before it was handed off to the next group. The residential projects, unlike the master plan projects, were 9 different projects done by each individual. My participation in the projects are as follows:

Assignment 1a - Precedence

The assignment asked each student to research a precedence study that Alex Wall had described in his essay "Programming the Urban Surface." The precedence was compared with our site that was discussed in assignment 1. This assignment was an exercise in comparative urban mapping analysis.

Assignment 1 - 10x10

Based off the cataloguing process of Kieran Timberlake and documented in their published work MANUEL: The Architecture of Kieran Timberlake the first assignment dictates that we, the students, will become familiar with our project's study area by photographing instances of gerunds.

Gerunds are words where a noun is turned into a verb by adding -ing and becomes the subject of a sentence.

Such gerunds include:
Framing
Hinging
Joining
Lining
Patching
Profiling
Scaling
Selecting
Slipping
Weaving

Through the practice of defining, photographing, evaluating and coiling this pattern, my photo documentation and the gerund definitions they follow can be seen in these ten gerunds in ten photos.
